Some drugs need to be delivered in microgram quantities over a long period, say for a few months as would be the case for certain hormones or anticancers. An injection of drug and biodegradable polymer is administered such that it forms a depot under the skin. The drug is then released from this depot over the specified period, which could be as long as three months. |

Our product has been designed so that it is convenient to administer. Unlike the competing product no anaesthetic is required, no special hospitalization is necessary, there is no special handling for reconstitution of the injection and mixing prior to administering it. Since the injection is with very small particles within a tightly controlled particle size, pain to the patient on administering the drug is also minimized. |

Current projects are based on a growth hormone analogue as well as a somatostatin analogue, both of which are in preclinical testing. |
